; or what is the purpose of having larger diameter mirrors on telescopes?

now up: Why we become astronomers. The answer is "the rest of you can have money, we want the stars."

I guess it COULD be possible… but a blood test is the only thing that is really 100% accurate with that, besides an ultrasound that is. Maybe you should go see a doctor?

Baseball season is just around the bases, and that means that this year’s baseball games are as well. 2K Sports will be serving up their offering, MLB 2K10 in a few days time, and based on what we’ve seen of the game so far, the developers certainly made it a point to address a number of the concerns and criticisms brought against last year’s game.
To better prepare you for what this year’s installment brings to the plate, we brought in 2K developers Sean Bailey and Jonathan Rivera to intentionally walk us through the game’s new hitting/pitching mechanics, new presentation elements and general design improvements. So step up and hit play.

Maybe it sounds redundant but that is how it's done. Put the key in, turn one click and push the button. Racecars and motorscooters are set up that way as well

there is no Maltese as such but you can clip like a poodle but do not shave the face and feet and tail. it is called a daisy clip or a teddy bear clip here in Amarillo, Texas how i do it is the same length on the body, legs and face then i leave a beard and like a sch. and leave a little topknot. go to your library and look up a book on maltese or find a groomer in your area that can help you.

Concerned about increased air pollution and a marred landscape, residents in Duarte are protesting a proposal to relocate an operation to a ridge above the city.
The mountains that rise above their Duarte home have served as both backdrop and recurring character in the lives of John and Martha Jansen. On clear nights, John takes to the ridges with his telescope and amateur astronomy guides. Martha finds quiet inspiration for her oil paintings in the panoramic view of the peaks.

I had fell very hard for my high school sweetheart we were off and on for 2 years!! and in some way I still love him to this day, and Its been 5 years since I met him. I know its over with and that he never loved me. And I think thats one of the hardest thing i have gone through. Giving someone your everything and I didn’t really mean much to him! And for some stupid reason I still have hope that one day!
The FORCE of interaction is the SAME between parent and child "pushing off" each other. Therefore with child acceleration at 2.6 m/s², FORCE (F) = (12)(2.6) = 31.2 N.
The acceleration of the parent = 31.2/60 = 0.52 m/s².
d = 1/2at²
The distance the child travels in 3 s = 1/2(2.6)(3)² = 11.7 m
The distance the parent travels in 3 s = 1/2(0.52)(3)² = 2.34 m
Total separation distance after 3 s = 11.7 + 2.3 = 14.0 m ANS

First to clear up some terminology: when astronomers use the word "lens" they are referring only to the main objective lens of a refractor, or possibly to the individual component lenses that make up an eyepiece or other optical system. I think you are asking here about _eyepieces_, not lenses.
There is no reason to stay within a brand; virtually all astronomical equipment is highly compatible. Certainly, all Orion's eyepieces work with the XT8, as do all eyepieces by every other manufacturer. Very very rarely you may find an eyepiece which won't reach focus in a particular telescope, but I've only ever encountered this two or three times in over 50 years, 25 telescopes, and countless eyepieces.
A Barlow lens is a device which you place between eyepiece and telescope which increases the effective magnification, similar to a teleconverter in photography. It's main side effect is making the image much dimmer, so it's usually only used with bright objects.
I believe the XT8i comes with two eyepieces as standard equipment: 25mm and 10mm Plössls. Plössl is a particular design of eyepiece, normally with four lenses, and is a good starting eyepiece. The 25mm is a pretty good eyepiece, the 10mm less so. The different focal lengths of eyepieces give different magnifications with a given scope. You calculate this by dividing the focal length of the scope (1200mm) by the focal length of the eyepiece, so the 25mm gives 48x and the 10mm 120x.
These are good magnifications to start out with; you may want to add a shorter focal length (around 5 mm) for the Moon and planets, amd a longer focal length (around 32mm) for large objects. There are many different designs of eyepieces, most of which offer a wider field of view or more comfortable eye relief (how close you have to put your eye) than the standard Plössl.
Don't feel like you need to add any hardware right away. Get to know the standard equipment first. It's more important to spend your extra money on a good star atlas (the Sky & Telescope Pocket Sky Atlas is about the best) and a good guide book like NightWatch by Terence Dickinson or Star Watch by Philip Harrington. A red flashlight and a decent 10×50 binocular are essential accessories for deep sky observing.
"What exactly I'm looking for, are lens' that will give me better viewing quality. Something that will focus easier/better, something that will magnify whatever I'm viewing, and something that will increase the detail in what I'm viewing."
Most of what you're asking for here comes with _experience_ at the eyepiece, and is not gained by buying accessories! A few hours spent sketching what you see at the eyepiece will gain you more than anything you can buy!

a diameter tape measure has the units pre-calculated in "pi" units.
Circumference = pi x diameter.
or more to the point,
diameter = Circumference/pi
so this special tape would read "3.18" at the same position a normal tape would read "10". this saves time and thinking, but a regular tape works just as good, just divide every reading by pi (3.1416)
pust it real good do do do do do do my faveeee part!
